To mark the end of the winter semester and recognize the 2015 Excellence in Teaching Award recipients, members of the NSU Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences gathered on May 13, 2015 at the Signature Grand for the annual College Luncheon.
Before a crowd of approximately 125 faculty and staff members, Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of the college, recognized the achievements of Nelson Bass, Ph.D., assistant professor, and Efrat Friedman, adjunct faculty member. Bass was honored as the college’s 2014-15 Outstanding Full Time Teacher of the Year, and Friedman was recognized as the college’s 2014-15 Outstanding Part Time Teacher of the Year. Both were selected based on “their strong commitment to student learning and student success,” said Rosenblum, who added “Our college has many outstanding teachers, and these awards reflect endorsement and support from students and peers.”
At the event, the dean and various faculty members also recognized the special nature of this year’s College Luncheon. It was the final one for the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, as all of the college’s programs, faculty, and students will be realigned with other NSU colleges this summer. Rosenblum shared this note of appreciation with the college’s faculty and staff: “We should be very proud of all we have done—as reflected in our students, our alumni, and our impact on the larger communities we serve. That will expand in the coming years with new and exciting roles.”
