FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Six Sharks will be honored on Senior Night prior to playing their final encounter at the NSU Soccer Complex Saturday, as the Nova Southeastern University men’s soccer team will host the Eckerd Tritons (7-4-1, 3-2-1 SSC) at 7 p.m.

The Sharks (5-8, 1-6 SSC) will have the farewell match for six players before kickoff: Jo Jien Lee (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Karl Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden), Matthias Bruno (Rome, Italy), Stefano Fanfoni (Cremona, Italy), Flavio Devoto (Rome, Italy) and Juan Rodriguez (Lima, Peru).

Also prior to the game, the athletics department is co-hosting a tailgate with Finatics (the official spirit organization of NSU) and Alpha Kappa Psi (a business fraternity on campus). The event will take place west of the field from 6-7 pm with food provided by Jimmy John’s. Saturday has become Senior Night due to the previously-scheduled finale, next week against Flagler, now canceled due to weather necessitating rescheduling of the Saints’ matches to end their regular season.

Both teams are coming to this game with the mission of killing their tough losing streaks and with hope of providing the fans an intense game with a lot of action. It has been an enduring season for the Sharks as they look to bring their heads up from deep water in this last game of the season. Around this same time last year the Sharks defeated the Tritons at home 3-1 with a stunning free kick goal and an assist from Guido Riffeser in the dying minutes of the game/ That gave NSU the victory that helped advance the team into the postseason tournament.

Although the Sharks are not in position to advance into the postseason this year, they look forward to repeating history at home on Saturday and making Senior Night a memorable time for everyone. The Tritons are third in the Sunshine State Conference standings and will not give an easy game to the Sharks as they hope to maintain a high seed as they advance to the championships.
