The NSU Alvin Sherman Library recently celebrated the Grand Opening of the Circle of Friends Collaborative Study Room located on the Library’s 3rd floor.  This state of the art room was a gift of the Circle of Friends, and is designed to meet the ever changing needs of our students and the community.  Now students are encouraged to work on projects together as groups, using technology to share information.  Lydia Acosta, Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian, who welcomed the Friends, stated “We encourage students to engage in active conversation as they work on projects or study together”.  The main room (Room 3078) seats up to 75 students in various configurations while the more private room (3079) offers groups of 6 and more and the opportunity to share information using 2 monitors.

Underwriters of the evening’s reception were CBI – Dan Buchweitz, and Adolfo and Marisela Cotilla, and the library is grateful for their generosity.

Many thanks to the members of the Circle of Friends for helping make this room a reality, through their membership and contributions.  This state-of-the-art room, complete with furnishings and technology, is what the Circle of Friends is all about; helping to support the Alvin Sherman Library’s mission and in turn the community.
