Hispanic Heritage Dine and Learn at NSU Jacksonville

Student Affairs at NSU Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Student Government Association hosted a Hispanic Heritage Dine and Learn on September 25th. Thirty-three people were in attendance including students, staff, and faculty.

Homemade dishes from several different countries included Ajiaco Bogotano, a Colombian soup provided by Jorge Sanchez, a Spanish/Cuban beans and rice dish provided by the owner of Mimi’s Café, Completos, hot dogs with traditional Chilean toppings provided by Milton Cepeda, and flan and Mexican desserts provided by Cynthia Farmer.

Attendees also watched an informative documentary titled, “A History of Hispanic Achievement” on the big screen, and everyone tried their hand at the Hispanic Heritage quiz. Winner Tracy Redman went home with a collection of NSU merchandise. NSU’s Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) provided handouts regarding the Jacksonville Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as copies of the desserts, and fun and educational flyers regarding Hispanic Heritage were posted throughout the room so everyone could see.
