The Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) and Stable Place Equine Assisted Therapies hosted an equine assisted training for the incoming class of doctoral students. The event was directed by Shelley Green, Ph.D., professor in DFT and facilitated by the staff of Stable Place. The training was a fun way for the incoming students to experience team building, relationship development, and exploration of the skills and challenges that accompany their launch into the DFT Doctoral Programs.

Several years ago Green initiated a course, Equine Assisted Family Therapy, which was the first of its kind to be housed in a nationally accredited family therapy program. In addition to her work with equine therapy, Green’s other research interests include human sexuality, gender, and systems theories. For more information on equine assisted leadership development, team building, and clinical services, contact Green at 954-262-3028 or via e-mail (shelley@nova.edu).
