Strong Second Half Propels Sharks to Victory Over Barry

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A strong second half propelled the Sharks over Barry on Monday evening. NSU was led by two second-half goals from Alessandro Salvadego, and Fernando Herrera, securing the 2-1 victory over the Buccaneers.

How It Happened

  • The Buccaneers struck first, firing a shot into the back of the net at the 10-minute mark.

  • In the 57th minute Salvadego tied the match, scoring his first goal of the season off an assist from Fabio Hassler.

  • With under ten minutes remaining in the match, Herrera broke the tie with a goal of his own in the 85th minute (assisted by Santiago Marengo), giving the Sharks a 2-1 lead.

NSU kept their foot on the gas defensively, shutting out the Bucs in the second half and securing the 2-1 win.


Coaches’ Corner

Head Coach Matt Watts – I thought our reaction in the second half of the game was brilliant. We hung in there and again showed great character to come from behind to get the win. These boys are showing a never say die attitude and that’s a big part of our wins so far. On to the next one.


What’s Next

Nova Southeastern is back in action Saturday, September 16th at 7:00 PM as they travel to Melbourne, FL to take on Florida Tech in an SSC opener.
