Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), was featured in the Naples Daily News Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Duckworth’s editorial was entitled “Deeper Issue at Root of California Killings.” Duckworth discussed the Isla Vista, California shootings that took place on May 23, 2014. She pointed out the role of male privilege in this incident, setting it apart from some of the other acts of violence in and around schools and campuses.
Duckworth is the faculty facilitator for the Peace and Conflict Education Working Group at SHSS. The group seeks to equip and empower schools worldwide to be examples and builders of peace, and to promote activities and curriculum that can help extend peace into the local communities.
