In keeping with its recent tradition of presenting bloody-good productions, The Promethean Theatre (TPT), NSU’s award-winning professional theatre company in residence, will present Song of the Living Dead at NSU Aug. 19 through Sept. 4.
Part of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Resident Series, Song will take place in the Black Box Theatre of the college’s Performing and Visual Arts Wing in the Don Taft University Center. Showtimes are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
Written by Matt Horgan and Travis Sharp, with music by Horgan and Eric Frampton, Song is a “zombie musical” that follows the classic love story of a young couple. While out together running some errands and enjoying their newly-engaged bliss, the sweethearts unwittingly stumble into a full-fledged zombie attack. What follows is a musically accompanied account of the skin-crawling, zombie-fighting, brain-craving mayhem and a true testament to the couple’s “undying love.”
Tickets for Song of the Living Dead are $10 for NSU students (tickets available at the door, day of show only, if available), $15 for all other students, and $25 for general admission. For an additional $5, audience members can sit in the “splatter zone” during each performance. Ponchos will be provided.
