Matthew He, Ph.D., professor and director of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology, earned the 2012 Path Award for Biostatistics. The awards are distributed by The Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International University in Miami. He was recognized for the prestigious honor during a ceremony at FIU on Apr. 18.
According to FIU, “the Path Awards were established to recognize individuals and organizations in public health, social work, and dietetics for their contributions and commitment to promoting and protecting the health of the South Florida community. The awards also serve to raise the community’s awareness and understanding of the contributions made by these professionals.”
He is the author/editor of 10 books and has published more than 100 research articles in the fields of bioinformatics, computational biology, information theory, mathematical sciences, and engineering techniques in the medical and biological sciences. In 2011, He delivered a keynote lecture, titled “From Genes to Drug: Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, and Biotechnology,” at the Bio-IT World Conference & Expo in Singapore.
