Martha Gonzalez Marquez, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), presented a five-hour pre-conference institute at the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Conference (AAMFT) in Portland, Oregon. Her presentation, entitled “Approved Supervisor Refresher Course,” was designed to meet the requirement that AAMFT supervisors take a five hour refresher course prior to the renewal of their designation.
Marquez has served on the Standards Committee and Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. During her last two years on the COAMFTE she served as Chair-Elect and Chair. In addition to being a faculty member, Marquez serves as the Director of Doctoral Programs & Administrator of Program Accreditations in DFT. Her teaching and research interests include social justice, culture, diversity and inclusion, work with couples, sexuality in relationships, supervision, and ethical and professional issues.
