During the months of September and October, NSU Jacksonville and Student Affairs partnered together to collect new or slightly used shoes for Mission Harvest America. Students, staff and faculty donated two barrels full of sneakers and flat shoes.
Mission Harvest America is an international humanitarian aid relief organization dedicated to providing “supplies and donations to solve hunger, poverty and disease locally, nationally and globally” (Mission Harvest America, 2010). Mission Harvest America collects both new and used items such as food, clothing, equipment, medical supplies, school supplies and other essential items needed for daily survival. Mission Harvest America has provided for the needs of thousands of people in 54 countries and 46 states.
