CAHSS Faculty to Present at Cinema Paradiso on “Hate is Like a Loaded Gun: Noir Anti-Semitism in Edward Dmytryk’s Crossfire”

Marlisa Santos, Ph.D.Marlisa Santos, Ph.D., Associate professor and Chair of the Department of Literature and Modern Languages in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) will present at the Cinema Paradiso on February 25, 2016. Her topic is “Hate is Like a Loaded Gun: Noir Anti-Semitism in Edward Dmytryk’s Crossfire.” Participants can enjoy the film and Santos’ accompanying presentation and discussion. The event is sponsored by NSU and the David Posnack Jewish Community Center.

Santos’ teaching and research interests include film studies, classic film, and film noir. She is the author of The Dark Mirror: Psychiatry and Film Noir“(2010).  She has presented at numerous conferences including the South Atlantic Modern Language Association, the Northeast Modern Language Association, and the Film and History Conference.
