Matrix has returned with its fourth issue. Created by the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology, the Matrix online column proves that math can apply to various disciplines, general life situations, and even humor.
Matrix Issue 4 covers the theme of “Mathematics and Language” and features an article exploring the relationship between math and linguistics.
Each issue of the Matrix also includes a Problem of the Month, created by division faculty. The problem-solving contest is open to current students and alumni with a valid NSU email address. The first student to submit the correct solution by Oct. 31 will win a prize. Winners must be able to visit the NSU main campus in a timely manner to claim their prize.
The college congratulates Hung D. Pham, biology major at the college, who was the first (of many) students to submit the correct answer to Matrix Issue 3’s Problem of the Month. Check out the new issue to see his solution.
