Teacher Imaginarium (TI) at Nova Southeastern University’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education (FSE) periodically hosts Open House events at the North Miami Beach Campus to provide classrooms with much-needed supplies. In February 2013, groups of teachers and school staff were able to take advantage of donated items for classroom use—following an afternoon of “shopping.” During full-day events, FSE offers a variety of items such as staple munchers, pens, office supplies, and other useful items for classroom instruction and seasonal decoration.
At the most recent event, fifty-five teachers representing 23 public and private Miami-Dade and Broward schools attended free professional development and received free school supplies for use in their classrooms.
Since its inception in 2007, hundreds of local teachers have been recipients of donated goods. Teacher Imaginarium has planned to expand its operation with the concurrent launching of TI’s virtual store website, available at: http://www.fischlerschool.nova.edu/experience-fischler/teacher-imaginarium.
Right now, Teacher Imaginarium is in need of donations for a Back-to-School event to take place as the school year begins in the fall. Supplies can include but are not limited to: paper, pencils, chalk, blackboards/ whiteboards, folders, hanging files, crayons, markers, or any NSU logo items that are either outdated or no longer in use.
Donated items should be sent to: Stanley Krantenstein, Associate Director, Teacher Imaginarium, kratenst@nova.edu, (954) 262-7822.
