Discover Your Next Learning Destination with Travel Study

After learning inside of a classroom all year, students may be ready for a change of scenery. The Travel Study program, offered through NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, allows students to study in and experience destinations near and abroad—including Mexico, Ireland, Alaska, Eastern Europe, and Greece.

The college offers many diverse travel-study courses, in a variety of disciplines, every year. As part of the interactive learning experience, these classes are held “on location,” led by college faculty members who are knowledgeable of the local environment and culture.

NSU students are not limited to Travel Study programs offered by the university. The college can help students identify programs at institutions in the United States and more than 150 countries.

Why Travel Study?

Some students choose to participate in Travel Study trips to examine special topics important to their majors. Others pursue Travel Study to satisfy a curiosity about a foreign culture, learn another language, or explore a different urban or natural environment.

Travel Study destinations regularly visited by the college include the following:

Alaska—led by Paul Arena, Ph.D., assistant professor

Eastern Europe—led by Gary Gershman, J.D., Ph.D., associate professor
Ecuador—led by Barry Barker, Ed.D., associate professor
Galapagos Islands—led by Joshua Feingold, Ph.D., associate professor
