Nova Southeastern University Appoints Minerva Jaimes, Ed.D., Director of Miami-Kendall Campus

Minerva JaimesMiami-Kendall, FLNova Southeastern University (NSU) President and CEO Dr. George Hanbury has announced the appointment of Minerva Jaimes, Ed.D., as director of the university’s Miami-Kendall campus. With more than 18 years of experience in higher education, she joined NSU in 2005.

 

Jaimes spent 10 years as NSU’s assistant director for student recruitment and enrollment management at the Miami-Kendall campus.  In that role she has worked within the community to develop NSU programs and foster relationships with various organizations in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.

 

”Dr. Jaimes was instrumental in the implementation of NSU’s first graduate education cluster in Homestead,” said Ricardo Belmar, M.I.B.A., NSU vice president of regional campus operations. “Additionally, she has coordinated student discount partnerships for NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship and for the Department of Justice and Human Services.”

Jaimes has predominantly focused on the university’s involvement with the South Dade Community. She has initiated community service projects to benefit migrant farm worker families and their children.  She has also served on WeCare of South Dade’s Mental Health Action Team committee as well as the Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce’s Minority Business Council.  She is currently a board member of enFamilia and the Mexican American Council.

“Dr. Jaimes has always been an advocate for access to higher education and she will no doubt continue that work in her new position,” added Dr. Hanbury. “Her involvement in the community has been crucial to her successes,” he said.

She currently chairs the NSU Regional Campus strategic recruitment planning team for the College of Psychology. Jaimes, who is bilingual, earned her Doctor of Education degree with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and a Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University (NSU).  She and her family reside in Homestead, FL.

 

NSU’s Miami-Kendall campus serves more than 3,000 students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, educational specialist, and doctoral programs.  Students at NSU experience a real world classroom experience enhanced by our state-of-the art technology laboratories.
