NSU’s Week of Welcome (WOW) kicked off the academic year with its 2nd Annual Black Light Party held in the Don Taft University Center’s Arena. DJ Nix kept the crowd dancing until 2 a.m.  With numerous glow-in–the-dark giveaways, t-shits, and photo booth fun, the party had over 700 students in attendance.

The fun continued the next day with a Welcome Home BBQ. NSU’s Residential Life and Housing coordinated some “good eats” for those in the residence halls.

RecFest, hosted by the RecPlex, featured a number of departments and food vendors giving away free food, prizes, and some insightful tips on how to stay healthy and active throughout the year.

Panhellenic Council hosted a mixer in the Commons Residence Hall meeting room giving our ladies a chance to mingle with one another and NSU’s Flight Deck hosted a social so students could chat over some more great food and enjoy the new renovations of the pub.

Student Employment Fair was held on Wednesday informing students of all of the employment opportunities we have on campus. Additional, The Office of Residential Life and Housing and the Division of Fire and Life Safety invited the NSU community to view the documentary “After the Fire,” and listen to fire survivals Alvaro Llanos and Shawn Simmons.  After this presentation, Student Media showed the movie “Frozen”.

NSU Shark Pride was visible and vibrant at the NSU is Where It’s A.A.T.T Spirit Day! Advisors from Undergraduate Academic Advising, Tutoring and Testing, Student Success, and the Alvin Sherman Library informed students of the all resources they have to offer them. Our Athletics department played a key role in keeping students excited throughout the event in addition to a featured performance from the Sharkettes. Later that day, Greek Life hosted a BBQ and Meet & Greet to welcome our new shark!

Our annual Sharkapalooza was yet another amazing success! Surpassing last year’s attendance, Sharkapalooza had over 1,250 people who came out to learn more about our clubs and organizations at NSU. There was an abundance of free food, performances, and giveaways including two round trip airline tickets!

Students gathered by the NSU Shark Fountain to participate in our off campus service trip. Our Sharks gave their time and helping hands to give back to our local Fort Lauderdale Community.

Our Week of Welcome concluded with some more fun in the sun at the Labor Day Pool Party that took place on campus at the RecPlex pool!
