Conference championships and Sunshine State Conference Tournament seeds will be on the line Saturday in the most crucial regular season weekend this year. On the women’s side, NSU and Tampa are the top two teams in the conference and will be playing for the inside track for the regular season SSC title. NSU enters the game ranked sixth in the nation and first in the South Region, while Tampa comes to NSU on an 11-game winning streak. That streak includes a 71-60 win over NSU at Tampa.
For the men, NSU will look to complete a season sweep of Tampa after taking a road win over the Spartans in January, 94-65. Tampa currently sits in third in the SSC, with NSU a half-game behind. Another win over Tampa would give the Sharks a huge advantage in what has become the tightest conference race in recent memory.
The doubleheader will lead into the final home games of the year on Wednesday, Feb. 26 against Florida Tech. Prior to the women’s 5:30 p.m. start, four seniors will be honored in their final regular season game in the NSU Arena. The men’s game will follow at 7:30 p.m. Kovac Automotive will be giving out free Sharks T-shirts to the first 200 fans that arrive.
