For the first time this year, Huizenga College of Business’ Women’s Success Series is participating in Women in Entrepreneurship Week, an international collaboration of Colleges and Universities in 32 countries and 45 states to provide events to help give the next generation of female entrepreneurs the skills needed to be successful.
According to American Express’ 2018 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report, Florida is:
- Number 1 in growth of Women Owned Businesses
- Number 3 in the number Women Owned Businesses but
- 43rd in revenue for Women Owned Businesses
- 88% of all women-owned businesses have revenues less than $100,000 in annual revenue.
Huizenga College has special programming this upcoming week to help improve these numbers, specifically looking at how our female students who aspire to be the next generation of entrepreneurs to gain the knowledge and skills that will help their businesses grow!

For the first time, a full day of Women Entrepreneurs meeting and mentoring our students.
9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Entrepreneurs in Residence Sue Romanos, founder of CareerXchange, one of Florida’s largest employment and staffing companies. Sue is particularly effective at coaching students seeking an edge to win sought-after professional internships or positions.
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
New Entrepreneur in Residence Kathy Chiu, managing partner of the FAN Fund, a Florida venture capitalist fund. She would like to do her coaching sessions with students interested in entrepreneurship.
Razor’s Edge Shark Cage Women in Entrepreneurship Conclave Meeting
This event is exclusive for Razor’s Edge Shark Cage students.
4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Kathy Chiu will speak to all RESC students at the beginning of their 4:00 pm. conclave. Kathy will talk to the students about the evaluation process she uses to consider funding a start-up.
