Sharks Fight To Raise Money To Find A Cure For Breast Cancer
The Nova Southeastern University volleyball team seeks to Fill the Tank and has designated the Florida Tech match on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. as this season’s “Dig Pink” match.
The team is looking to make history breaking a volleyball attendance record filling the 1,000 seat arena in the Don Taft University Center and to pink it out by encouraging fans to wear pink. Also, each fan is asked to donate a dollar to reach its goal of $1,000.
Individual sponsors pledge money per dig earned by the Sharks or can make a flat donation to the cause. Dig Pink is the breast cancer awareness rally being held all of October 2010. A large statement is going to be made by holding hundreds, potentially thousands, of featured high school and college matches across the country to help educate and raise funds to eradicate this terrible disease.
Proceeds will be distributed among research teams focused on target therapies and molecular profiling as well as “living with cancer” organizations nationwide.
The team will be wearing pink jerseys during its match against the Panthers which will be auctioned off to raise money for the Side-Out Foundation to support its efforts to find a cure for breast cancer. The Sharks hosted a live chat on Monday, Nov. 1. from 5-8 p.m., where fans had the opportunity to bid for the pink jersey worn by each member of the volleyball team on Oct. 29 against Florida Tech.
Each jersey will start at $50.00 with a $5.00 increase for each bid.
