The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host an on-campus master class called “The Breathing Gym” taught by South Florida tuba player and music educator Connor Hailey. This program is designed to improve performance skills through various breathing exercises. It is free and open to all students, faculty, and staff.

Connor Hailey holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in tuba performance from the University of Miami. He studied under the guidance of renowned tuba player and brass pedagogue J. Samuel Pilafian, who invented the Breathing Gym program.
Hailey has been a private instructor for all low brass instruments for the past six years. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at New World School of the Arts and Miami-Dade College—Wolfson campus. He most recently joined the University of Miami’s Band of the Hour as an instructional specialist.
