“We will not build a peaceful world by following a negative path. It is not enough to say we will not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.”
– Martin Luther King
On behalf of the Executive Board of the International Student Union (ISU), we would like to address the conflict occurring between Russia and Ukraine. Situations like these are devastating and scary due to unnecessary violence, uncertainty, and heartbreaking casualties.
Our hearts go out to the Ukrainian Community here at Nova Southeastern University and those around the world. To our peers on campus, we are here to support you in any way that we can. Feel free to reach out, at any point in time. Here are some additional resources to support you at this time:
- Office of International Affairs – intl@nova.edu/954-262-7240
- International Student Union – internationalstudentunion.nsu@gmail.com
- NSU Center for Counselling & Well Being – 954-424-6911 (Available 24/7)
It is also very important to note that the Russian government’s views are not the collective view of every person that identifies as Russian. For those who feel silenced and are suffering through this, we are here to support you as well.
If you would like to take action to support the people of Ukraine, please contact the International Student Union (email listed above) or Chantal Murrell (cm3222@mynsu.nova.edu).
The NSU International Student Union stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian community. We hope for peace and await the return of democracy and self-governance.
With Love,
Chantal – President, International Student Union
