Manuel D. Medina is the Founding and Managing Partner of Medina Capital, a high-growth private equity firm focused on the IT infrastructure and cyber security markets. Born in Cuba, he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1965. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked at Price Waterhouse, LLP., prior to founding Terremark Worldwide, Inc., a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ exchange. He led the company from its beginning in real estate development to its emergence as a global leader in the IT infrastructure sector. In 2011, Terremark was acquired by Verizon Communications, Inc., for $2 billion.
Medina is also the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Technology Foundation of the Americas, a non-profit organization focused on advancing the technology ecosystem in Miami and the host of eMerge Americas – an annual event that aims to serve as the preeminent innovative thought exchange and to transform Miami into the technological hub of the Americas. The 2014 emerge Americas Techweek drew more than 6,000 attendees from around the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America. The convention had more than 150 speakers, 200 participating companies and 115 startups. Medina has received many honors including induction into the Huizenga Business School’s 2014 Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Award.
