Honggang Yang, Ph.D., dean of NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), has announced the appointment of Urszula Strawinska-Zanko, Ph.D., to the faculty. Strawinska-Zanko has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR).
Strawinska-Zanko holds a master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw, Poland and completed a doctoral program in complexity science in the Robert Zajonc Institute for Social Studies – Center for Complex Systems at the Warsaw University. She holds a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from Florida Atlantic University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship with Queens College at the City University of New York. Strawinska-Zanko is experienced in the applications of dynamical systems theory. Her research interests focus on identifying dynamical patterns in cognition and emotion at different levels of psychological and social reality. Her most recent projects include maintenance of self-concept coherence and the development of new tools measuring dynamic patterns of interpersonal conflict escalation.
Strawinska-Zanko has taught in both residential and distance formats at both undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2009 and 2010 she received “Excellence in Teaching Awards” from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw.
