Alexia Georgakopoulos, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), presented a workshop at the 22nd Annual Florida Dispute Resolution Conference in Orlando. Her presentation was entitled, “Organizational Conflict Management: The Emergence of Mediators and Conflict Resolution Consultants.” The co-presenters were Harold Coleman, J.D., and DCAR doctoral graduate, Rebecca Storrow, Ph.D. Storrow is a Regional Vice President with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in Miami. Coleman is Senior Vice President of the American Arbitration (AAA) and Director of Mediation.org.
Georgakopoulos also provided a workshop at a Mediation Education Seminar entitled, “Are You Culturally Literate?” for the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators. In July she was a panelist at the Broward County Crime Commission’s Conference on Adult Bullying. Her areas of research and teaching interests include mediation, facilitation, intercultural communication, and conflict resolution.
