Hosted by the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the university’s premiere choral ensembles—the Bossa Nova Chorale and the NSU Vocal Ensemble—are seeking NSU’s talented vocalists.
The Bossa Nova Chorale is the premier vocal ensemble of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Performing and Visual Arts. It is composed of talented, aspiring vocalists who sing a wide repertoire of songs, from spirituals and vocal jazz charts to choral music spanning the last millennium.
The NSU Vocal Ensemble serves as NSU’s musical ambassadors. The group performs at the Student Life Achievement Awards (STUEYS), the annual holiday concert, Commencement celebrations at several satellite campuses, Homecoming, Sharkapalooza, Community Fest, and at Panthers and Marlins games. The NSU Vocal Ensemble also regularly tours throughout the state and nationally.
The two ensembles will perform classical and popular music at a concert in NSU’s Don Taft University Center on April 18, 2015.
Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., in the Don Taft University Center, room 309. Come to the first rehearsals on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, or Thursday, January 8, 2015, to learn how you can be a part of the best choral music at NSU.
Membership in the choral ensembles is open each semester to all NSU students, faculty, and staff. Student members can earn one credit for participation. Performances are scheduled throughout the academic year.
