About the SFEC
During World War II, Hamilton and Blanche Forman leased 545 acres of farmland to the government for a naval training airfield. When Forman Field closed down after the war, the couple allowed the government to keep the land – as long as it would be forever dedicated to education.
Today, a half century later, the South Florida Education Center presents the opportunity for a lifetime of learning. The vast spectrum of possibilities includes college prep, technical and vocational K-12 education, technical certificates, industry certifications and non-credit programs. The center also provides access to an extensive array of associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professional degree programs offered by Florida’s leading colleges and universities.
The schools serve culturally and ethnically diverse student populations conduct major research and provide significant community service. From preschoolers receiving their first learning experience and a senior citizen returning for classes, to graduates who become business leaders, doctors, lawyers, educators, architects, automotive and marine technicians, dentists, psychologists and so many more career fields, the schools of the South Florida Education Center are proud of their contributions to South Florida, the nation and the world.
