The Honors College would like to recognize September’s Honors College Living the Values recipient Albert Williams, Ph.D. The month of September focused on the ‘Student Centered’ Core Value. Dr. Williams is an associate professor of finance and economics at the H. Wayne College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
It is fitting that Dr. Williams was nominated by an Honors student who is new to NSU this year. Dr. Williams certainly shows that he wants to connect with NSU students. He is very kind and open to talking to students, and Honors students boast about their great experiences with Dr. Williams. When a student contacts him, whether that student is in one of his classes or not, he responds immediately and with a genuine interest.
You may have seen Dr. Williams at Convocation 2017 (playing the guitar), at many of the Honors College events, or have taken Personal Finance Honors with him. Please join the Honors College in congratulating Albert Williams, Ph.D.
Dr. Williams was awarded faculty of the year in 2016/17 at HCBE. He was also awarded the prestigious NSU STUEY faculty of the year award for 2016/17.
Dr. Williams’ motto is: ‘Make the world a better place – one student at a time.’
The purpose of the Living the Values program is to recognize Honors College students, faculty, and alumni who exemplify and ‘live’ NSU’s eight core values. Additionally, the program encourages a better understanding of the core values.
The Living the Values program focuses on a different core value each month. Honors College students, faculty, and alumni may nominate each other – and make self-nominations. There is no limit to the number of times a person can be nominated. Each month, one person from the honors community will be recognized for exemplifying that month’s core value and will be honored with a distinctive Honors College gift.
The month of October will focus on Living the ‘Integrity’ Core Value. To nominate yourself or someone in the honors community, visit the Honors Living the Values webpage at honors.nova.edu/livingthevalues, and complete the ‘Integrity’ nomination form between October 1 and October 31.
