On Saturday November 7th right here on campus, NSU students are invited to run alongside Special Olympics athletes, with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You students will be showing your support for these athletes and making a statement that we are all equals. This Sallarulo’s Race for Champions 5K Run/Walk will be the kick off of NSU Homecoming, where Special Olympics Florida – Broward County and NSU Homecoming Committee will come together after the race for the Carnival of Champions, celebrating the champion in all of us!
NSU students can register for the 5K for free by joining team Nova Southeastern University. Student organizations are also welcomed to form their own team for free and have a chance to win prizes; prizes will be offered to the organization that registers the most participants, and the organization that raises the most funds over $500. Registration is available online at www.sallarulosraceforchampions.org. Donations can also be made directly to the website.
All proceeds go directly to Special Olympics Florida – Broward County to fund the 22 different sport programs offered to the growing special needs population. They currently serve over 3,100 athletes.

REGISTER FOR THE SALLARULO’S RACE FOR CHAMPIONS
Step 1: Go to http://www.firstgiving.com/sofl/sallarulos-race-for-champions-2015
Step 2: Click the Green “Register Button” on the right hand column.
Step 3: Register now: pick your registration choice:
- Champion Runner/Walker
I pledge to raise at least $100 for Special Olympics Florida – Broward County, and when I do my registration fee will be waived. - Runner/Walker
I just want to pay the $25 registration fee to run or walk in the Race for Champions. (NSU students participate for free) - Special Olympics Athlete – free
- Sponsor – free
Enter the NUMBER of people you are registering.
Click on GREEN register button.
Step 4: Create an account; Type in your information –and click NEXT
Step 5: Type in the information for the person who is registering for race. Click to accept waiver and click NEXT.
Step 6: You can either join an existing team or start your own team and give it a name
Step 7: Now you are going to create your personal fundraising. Follow the onscreen instructions so you can start customize it!
Step 8: Click on the last green button and you are registered.
Race Day Schedule:
Registration & Packet Pick-up is from 6:00am to 7:25am. Race numbers and Chronotrack tags will only be distributed to those registered by 7:30am. The 5K Run will start at 8:00 am.
