Over 28 NSU alumni have served in developing countries around the globe
The Peace Corps will be visiting Nova Southeastern University on October 30, 2010, to dialog with juniors and seniors about expanding opportunities to live, learn, and work overseas.
David Leavitt, Public Affairs Specialist, said “Currently, we expect 1,000s of new assignments for 2011. We strongly encourage students, including liberal arts majors, to visit with us to gain a better understanding of how to competitively apply for these opportunities”.
NSU has a long history of supporting Peace Corps—over 28 alumni have already served in developing countries worldwide.
What: Attendees will learn what Peace Corps’ current opportunities are and how to make their applications competitive. Learn what it’s like to live and work in an overseas community for 2 years. The session will include a new DVD presentation and time for Q and A.
Why: Peace Corps provides graduates with an excellent opportunity to positively serve America by serving others in 77 different countries. Peace Corps helps students jumpstart their career: in 2010, Peace Corps was formally ranked by undergraduate college students as the #1 Most Ethical Employer to meet their career goals (Universum Data).
New: Peace Corps’ new effort to attract undergraduates with technical degrees (like agriculture, accounting, health sciences) and liberal arts students to meet growing host country demands for specific types of technical assistance.
