The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host the 2011 Undergraduate Student Symposium at Nova Southeastern University on Friday, Apr. 8 , from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The symposium showcases the outstanding scholarship of NSU’s undergraduate students from all disciplines, featuring projects and performances through oral presentations, paper submissions, and poster displays. Projects cover areas of student scholarship ranging from the experimental, applied, and computational to the theoretical, artistic, and literary.
As part of the event, the college also will host the fifth annual Undergraduate Film Festival. The festival is scheduled to include screenings of student-made short films corresponding with the college’s 2010–2011 academic theme of “Identity.” Faculty members and local filmmakers will judge the films, and awards will be presented during the symposium’s conclusion.
Judging will take place during all symposium presentations, and prizes will be awarded at the end of the day for outstanding projects in several categories.
Student work will be presented throughout the afternoon in the Alvin Sherman Library. Opening and closing ceremonies will take place in the Performance Theatre of the college’s Performing and Visual Arts Wing in the Don Taft University Center. All are welcome to attend.
