Campus Closure Update – Sept. 11, 2017 9/11/17, 5:15 PM

NSU is working toward re-opening all campuses in Florida and Puerto Rico on Monday, September 18, 2017. NSU’s number one priority is the safety of our students, staff and faculty members. Should the university determine that any campus is not safe to re-open, we will update this web page. NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus suffered little damage, and crews are working to assess the facilities to ensure a safe return. Closure Update 9/8/17, 9:30 AM

As #HurricaneIrma approaches South Florida, ALL NSU CAMPUSES remain closed through Monday, Sept. 11th and until further notice. Campus Closure and Evacuation Update 9/6/17, 5:00 PM

#HurricaneIrma Update – As of 5:00 p.m. today, all NSU campuses are officially closed, except for essential personnel, as directed by their supervisor. The NSU Art Museum is also closed, and the Alvin Sherman Library at Nova Southeastern University will close at 6:00 p.m. today, Wed. Sept 6.

All residential students should already be prepared to evacuate off-campus with the Office of Residential Life and Housing (ORL&H). Please refer to email notifications from ORL&H for details. All faculty and staff members should follow their personal emergency plans until Hurricane Irma has passed and it is safe to return. NSU will issue an “ALL CLEAR” when the campus is prepared to re-open.

IMPORTANT: Broward County has issued a mandatory evacuation for residents living east of Federal Highway and in low-lying areas effective Thursday at noon, and all of the Florida Keys are under a mandatory evacuation.

Please note that the parking of personal vehicles on NSU property during a storm while campus is closed is NOT permitted by nonresident NSU students, staff or faculty members. The only exception is for NSU resident students. NSU residents are authorized to park their vehicles in the Alvin Sherman Library (ASLRTIC) Parking Garage, 2nd floor and above, as of 7:00 p.m. September 5, 2017.

We recommend storing the hotline number in your cell phone so it is readily available when you need it. New information is updated on the hotline and posted on the website as frequently as warranted. Information may also be distributed via email, text messages and social media outlets. In addition, local television and radio will be used to reach those who do not have access to a telephone or to the Internet.

Class Cancellations and Campus Closures 9/5/17, 6:45 PM

At NSU, safety is our #1 concern. NSU announces that all classes at all campuses will be canceled, effective 8 a.m. tomorrow Wednesday, Sept. 6. This includes all NSU regional campuses and sites, NSU University School, Mailman Segal Center, and the Baudhuin School.

All NSU faculty and staff members should report to work according to their normal schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 6 to help the university prepare for closure. NSU’s Health Care Clinics will be open Wednesday, September 6. NSU will close Thursday, Sept. 7th until further notice.

Finally, and extremely important, please update your Personal Emergency Contact Information by visiting nova.edu/emergency/notification/registration-process. When you register, your identification code is your NSU “N” Number, and when prompted to input your phone numbers, please do so without any dashes (e.g., 9542625398). Also, the new system allows you to input multiple phones, texts, and email addresses.
