The Students Events and Activities Board (SEA Board) is a part of a national organization known as the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) and during the weekend of October 1-4, 2015 they attended the NACA Southern Region Conference. This conference took place in Chattanooga, TN at the Chattanooga Convention Center and the SEA Board was represented by Sasha Pimentel, Daesha Roberts, Ashley Tomlinson and advisors Shannon Booker and Yabi Demissie. The purpose of this conference is to allow university programming boards to connect through education, entertainment and engagement. During this conference the SEA Board members attended education sessions where they were able to learn about ways to strengthen their leadership skills and how to further engage students at NSU through their events and activities.
Sasha Pimentel and Daesha Roberts presented an hour long education session titled “Programming on Fleek” and this session focused on how to use pop culture and social media to draw engagement on your college campus. Their session was attended by 75+ conference attendees and they received great feedback. At the closing dinner they received an award for Outstanding Education Session Collaboration which is voted on by conference attendees.
The SEA Board all together received three awards during this conference for, Best Promotional Item (SEA Board Blanket), Best Calendar (Fall 2015 Involvement Calendar Poster) and, the Outstanding Education Session.
