Nova Southeastern University law students Jessica Williams, Erica Alberino, and Brian Taft were awarded ‘Best Draft’ for the ‘seller’ at the 2013 Transactional Law Meet in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, Feb. 15 for the Southeast Regional Rounds. This is the second year the law school has participated in this meet. Professor Donna Litman, J.D., served as the Faculty Coach for the team.
The students represented the seller in a merger & acquisition setting and drafted an amendment to a stock purchase agreement. They met with three different teams of students who represented the buyer to negotiate the terms of the amendment.
Prior to the meet, the students consulted with Robert C. White, Jr., J.D., a business, corporate and technology attorney with The Gunster Firm; and Scott Smiley, J.D., an adjunct professor and patent attorney with ConceptLaw. Professor of Law and Dean Emeritus Joe Harbaugh, J.D. and Professor of Law Leslie Cooney, J.D. also provided insights on negotiating strategies.
Six Shepard Broad Law Center students, Darlene Bedley Baron (3L), Jared Guberman (3L), Matthew Botkin (2L), Jordan Greenberg (2L), Kevin Koushel (2L), and Jason Thomassy (2L), represented the buyer in practice negotiations.
