The NSU-Jacksonville Student Educational Center hosted its inaugural Health & Wellness Expo at the Jacksonville site on Saturday, October 15th from 10am – 1pm. Over 50 Participants received information on mental health awareness, fitness techniques, health insurance and prescription insurance information as well as interactive demos, free massages and information regarding chiropractic techniques! All participants who signed in were eligible to complete a “passport to health” and be entered to win one of several prizes including a Barnes & Noble gift card and an NSU gift basket.
Exhibitors were onsite to answer faculty, staff, student and guests’ questions. Many thanks to our exhibitors: River Point Behavioral Health, AAA, American Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, TIAA-CREF, VALIC, ICUBA, Costco, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Catalyst Rx and MHNET Behavioral Health for making our first Health Expo a success!
Dr. A.J. Hunziker of American Chiropractic and Rehabilitation presented a Dine & Learn on Ergonomic Living for Students from 12-1pm during the Health & Wellness Expo. Dine & Learn attendees all received a free lunch from Jason’s Deli courtesy of Student Affairs. Dr. Hunziker expressed to students the importance of good student ergonomics. Ergonomics is used to improve the way people and objects interact by improving the design or way in which people work. Hunziker’s presentation was very interesting and interactive. Several students and guests volunteered to help demonstrate both correct and incorrect ergonomic positions. Dr. Hunziker was presented with a certificate and NSU padfolio for all his help in educating students!
