NSU is actively monitoring Hurricane Milton, which is predicted to have potentially dangerous impacts on Florida’s west coast through the middle of this week; much of the west coast of Florida is now under a Hurricane Watch.
Now is the time to finalize your preparedness plan, particularly those near NSU’s Fort Myers, Tampa Bay, Orlando, and Jacksonville campuses.
NSU campus and operation closures due to Hurricane Milton:
- Davie/Fort Lauderdale/Miramar: Closed as of 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, and will stay closed Wednesday and Thursday. Students with classes, please contact your faculty for instructions as some class sessions may be offered online. Operations are scheduled to resume on Friday, October 11. This includes: NSU Art Museum, all NSU Health clinics, Oceanographic Campus, University School.
- Fort Myers: Closed as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7 and will stay closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students with classes, please contact your faculty for instructions as some class sessions may be offered online. Operations are scheduled to resume on Saturday, October 12.
- Jacksonville: Closed as of 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8 and will stay closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students with classes, please contact your faculty for instructions-as some class sessions may be offered online. Operations are scheduled to resume on Saturday, October 12.
- Miami/Kendall: Closed as of 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8 and will stay closed Wednesday and Thursday. Students with classes, please contact your faculty for instructions-as some class sessions may be offered online. Operations are scheduled to resume on Friday, October 11.
- Orlando: Closed as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7 and will stay closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students with classes, please contact your faculty for instructions as some class sessions may be offered online. Operations are scheduled to resume on Saturday, October 12.
- Tampa Bay/Clearwater: Closed as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7 and will stay closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students with classes, please contact your faculty for instructions as some class sessions may be offered online. Operations are scheduled to resume on Saturday, October 12.
Should circumstances prevent the re-opening of the campuses for normal operations, we will communicate instructions on how to resume classes and work remotely.

Should the storm impact the campus, we will provide updates about NSU’s operating status, campus closings, event cancellations, and re-openings as necessary. Notices will be posted through the following:
