Novapool Dance Project: Live Viewing
Friday, March 1, 2013
10:30 a.m.
Performance Theatre | Don Taft University Center
The Novapool dance project is a work in progress by two groups of students, each performing live on their respective campuses. The performances will be simulcast over the Internet in an effort to create a virtual dance company.
“Each group of students lives near water, but has very different experiences and perspectives of it—the Mersey River in Liverpool and the Atlantic Ocean here in Fort Lauderdale,” said Luke Kahlich, adjunct professor at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, who organized the Novapool dance project. “We are exploring a split-screen technology to develop a work … that seeks to find a visual, kinesthetic, and artistic connection between the students.”
This event is free and open to the public. Following the performance, there will be a discussion about the Novapool dance project. For more information, contact Elana Lanczi, M.F.A., associate professor at the college, at (954) 262-7613.
