To conclude the Mathematics Colloquium Series for the fall semester, two undergraduate students from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will present on boundary value problems (BVPs). The talk is hosted by the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology.
“Differentiation of Solutions of Second-Order BVPs with Integral Boundary Conditions”
Mathematics Colloquium Series | Presented by Alfredo Jansen and Bibi Juman, biology major
Faculty Adviser: Jeffrey Lyons, Ph.D., assistant professor at the college
Wednesday, Dec. 4
Noon–1:00 p.m.
Carl DeSantis Building | Room 1047
About the Talk
In this talk, Jansen and Juman will make certain continuity and disconjugacy assumptions based upon a second-order BVP with nonlocal, integral boundary conditions. Supposing they have a solution to the BVP, the pair will differentiate the solution with respect to various boundary parameters. In conclusion, the students will show that the resulting function solves the associated variational equation.
This talk is free, and all are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Vehbi Paksoy, Ph.D., or Iuliana Stanculescu, Ph.D., associate professors at the college.
