Six Degrees Event Featuring Dwight and Dinah Stephenson Benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County
On November 4, more than 75 guests gathered to hear former Miami Dolphin, Dwight Stephenson and his wife Dinah discuss the qualities that they credit the success of their many businesses, as well as their marriage. The Bigwig Event was hosted by Six Degrees, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s networking group and Nova Southeastern University’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship in order to raise awareness and funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters. The event, held in the Huizenga Sales Institute allowed former Miami Dolphin Offensive Lineman and Professional Football Hall of Fame member, Dwight Stephenson to speak on the transition from professional football to a successful career as an entrepreneur. He is currently President and CEO of D. Stephenson Construction, Inc. Dwight’s wife, Dinah, also gave insight on her career, practicing as a Real Estate attorney, starting her own practice and her continuous involvement with each of Dwight’s business ventures. Factors in their success include the synergy they share and the support system they provide for each other.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County board member and Six Degrees liaison, Carol Moroco said, “Dwight and Dinah Stephenson epitomize the essence of our Bigwig programs. They have lived their lives by setting examples of excellence in all they do while continually serving the community in a multitude of ways. Big Brothers Big Sisters is committed to serving all youth and especially those in the African American community and we appreciate the Stephensons’ support in furthering our mission within South Florida.”
Among those in attendance, some of the guests included: David Batie of 100 Black Men of America, Inc., Dr. Wilhelmena Mack of W. Mack & Associates, Ghenete Wright Muir of the TJ Reddick Bar Association, Keith Williams of the South Florida Water Management District, Doug Forde of the original 100 Black Men of New York City, Mike Gelin of Seitlin, Ancel Pratt of the American Airlines Arena/Miami Heat, and NSU’s founding father, Dr. Abraham Fischler.
The event raised nearly $500 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s programs. The funding will be used to run background screenings on volunteers and to provide caring adult mentors to children in Broward County.
