February 5-7, 2013, NSU students are invited to participate in a free three-day open workshop series on how to successfully use library resources and services for their research. Workshops include “Basic Training,” “Avoiding Research Fatigues,” and “Operation Research Success.” All three sessions will be offered from Noon-1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. in person at the Alvin Sherman Library (Lab B) and online via Elluminate.
Training topics include:
- NovaCat catalog
- Database searching
- Basic APA and MLA citation style guides
- Evaluating sources
- Journal Finder & Find It
- Boolean Operators and Keyword searching
- Constructing search strategies
- Library Student Advisory Board (LSAB)
- and more!
Students that would like to enhance their research skills may attend one or all of these workshops as each day’s concepts build upon the previous. Registration is encouraged as space is limited. No prior library knowledge is required to participate, and some familiarity with Internet/computer skills is recommended.
