Cool Off This Summer with a Travel Study Trip to Alaska

Students interested in spending time this summer studying in Alaska are encouraged to sign up for the college’s Travel Study trip to Alaska. The trip is a component of the course Biodiversity of Alaskan Ecosystems (BIOL 4900B), offered within the college’s Division of Math, Science, and Technology.

This field-based course introduces Alaska’s diverse wildlife in a biological, ecological, and evolutionary context. The course covers biological and ecological aspects of the diverse flora and fauna located in Alaska’s diverse ecosystems through topics including natural history, geography and geology, ecosystem characterization and connections, and wildlife populations and conservation. Students will be able to observe firsthand the ecological concepts and biological characteristics of Alaska’s wildlife. Note: to participate in this Travel Study trip, students must first complete the prerequisite course: BIOL 4900A/ENVS 2000.

To be eligible for this trip, you must complete the Travel Study Application and Release of Liability Form. Completed forms and an initial deposit of $1,525 are due by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 31 to the college’s Office of the Dean, located in the Mailman-Hollywood Building, second floor. Trips dates are Monday, July 11 through Wednesday, July 20.
