Five NSU Writing Fellows from the CAHSS Writing Center in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) and Kevin Dvorak, Ph.D., presented at the 2017 Southeastern Writing Center Association Conference. The event was held February 16-18 at the University of Mississippi. The Writing Fellows included: Jacqueline Lytle, Emalee Shrewsbury, Morgan Musgrove, Michaela Greer, and Samantha Epstein.
The conference had 300 attendees and Epstein was one of four participants awarded a Tom Waldrep Scholarship for conference travel. The Fellows’ presentation, “How Embedded Writing Fellows Can Shape First-Year Composition and Writing Center Pedagogy,” focused on what embedded fellows and composition faculty learn from one another about writing pedagogy and student engagement. Fellows attended sessions from peer tutors and professionals from throughout the southeast. Dvorak, CAHSS Writing Center coordinator, presented during a session titled, “Re-centering Writing Feedback through Writing Studio Pedagogy.”
