The Association of Information Systems (AIS) Student Chapter in NSU’s College of Engineering and Computing was honored to compete in the finals of the Security Case and SAP ERPSim tracks of the AIS Student Chapters competitions. This year’s finals were held April 1-3 in conjunction with the 2016 AIS Student Chapters Leadership Conference, and hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
The Security Case team, comprised of Amaka Amanambu, Steve Okeke-Eweni, and Nosakhare Abogun – all Master’s Students in the Management Information Systems (MMIS) program – were selected as one of the top five teams in the preliminary rounds of the international competition. To be selected, the team had to create a secure, HIPPA compliant, mobile computing solution for field agents of the fictitious NOLA Life Insurance Company.
After making the finals, the team then had to give a presentation and participate in a Q&A session with a second set of judges. They competed with teams from Brigham Young University, University of Michigan – Dearborn, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Akron. When the final tally was taken, NSU took home an amazing second place finish.
The ERPSim Team consisting of MMIS students Francisco Gonzalez, Maria Jiron, and Jeffery Kwok were selected from a very competitive pool of potential finalists from around the world. In this competition they were required to complete a simulation using the SAP enterprise resource management and analytics software, and placed 10th overall.
