In partnership with the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra will host its annual Young-Artists Competition Winners’ Concert on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Miniaci Performing Arts Center. There will also be a pre-concert lecture beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Part of the college’s Resident Series, the concert will feature the five winners of the 10th annual Young-Artists Concerto Competition, which was held at NSU in November. A variety of local musicians auditioned for a chance to perform side by side with the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, an incredible opportunity for the young artists. The winners were chosen by a panel of distinguished judges.
Division I winners—secondary-level musicians enrolled in grades 9 to 12—are pianist Anthony A. Coniglio (Archbishop McCarthy High School), cellist Erica Ogihara (Coral Reef High School), and violinist Kristen Laura Seto (Charles Flanagan High School). Division II winners—college, university, and conservatory-level musicians up to the age of 25—are violinist Wynton Edmund Grant (Lynn Conservatory of Music) and pianist Heqing Huang (Lynn University). These artists will perform alongside the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra at the upcoming concert.
Prior to the evening’s performance on Jan. 28, Ars Flores will offer Music for Munchkins, a free, 30-minute concert geared toward children and their families. The event begins at 11:00 a.m., also in the Miniaci Performing Arts Center.
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences is proud to continue its partnership with Ars Flores, further connecting campus and community creative resources.
Tickets to the Young-Artists Competition Winners’ Concert are available for $30, $20, and $10 for students and seniors. To purchase tickets, visit www.browardevents.com or call (954) 462-0222.
