Tripp Scott Law Firm Veteran Workshop (Mar 20)

This workshop is for all U.S. Military Veterans and Dependents, Cadets in the U.S. Army ROTC, and Students enrolled in the U.S. Military program who will proceed to active-duty military service after completing their degree.

When: Wednesday, March 20, 2024

Time: Noon – 2:00 p.m. 

Location: Veterans Resource Center (DeSantis 1042) 

The services provided at the workshop include Power of Attorney, Living Will, Guardianship Ancillary, and Medical Ancillary.

Each participant is allotted a single 20-minute slot, so it’s recommended to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the designated time slot.

The following documents will be offered as the workshop, and prepared for each pre-registered participant, if applicable and as requested by each pre-registered participant: 

1. Durable Power of Attorney – Generally (this is not an exhaustive description and is subject to change on a case-by-case basis), a power of attorney may be necessary for an agent/appointed individual to perform specific transactions or make certain decisions on your behalf (for example: managing your finances, taxes, business, or using your funds to pay costs to maintain your dependents, etc.).

2. Living Will – Generally (this is not an exhaustive description and is subject to change on a case-by-case basis), a living will allows you to dictate your own medical care and end-of-life procedures in the event you become incapacitated or otherwise unable to make such c

3. Guardianship Ancillary – Generally (this is not an exhaustive description and is subject to change on a case-by-case basis), a guardianship ancillary allows you to appoint an individual to perform all tasks necessary to care for you, and your property and estate, in the event you become incapacitated.

4. Designation of Health Care Surrogate – Generally (this is not an exhaustive description and is subject to change on a case-by-case basis), a medical ancillary allows you to appoint a single medical surrogate for decision making purposes related to your medical care and end-of-life procedures.
