Born in Constantinople and raised in Athens, Yannis Simonides is a graduate of Yale University and the Yale School of Drama. He has served as professor and chair of undergraduate drama at New York University’s Tisch School of Arts (NYU), director of Hellenic Public Radio in New York, and founding director of the Greek Theatre of New York (ellinikotheatro.org), which this year celebrated its 45th anniversary of continuous service in the US, Greece, and countries worldwide.  He has been awarded an Emmy by the American Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has been named Ambassador of Hellenism by the city of Athens for his lifelong service to Greek Arts and Letters worldwide.
