Family Weekend is a time for your family to see why NSU is special to you and what all we have to offer! Register now for a weekend full of activities and events for the whole family!

What is Family Weekend and Why Should I attend?

The Undergraduate Student Government Association would like to extend a warm welcome and invitation to you and your family to join us for our 2022 Family Weekend. Family weekend is an informative and engaging experience that includes students, parents, families, friends and the NSU community. Families will get the opportunity to visit campus and interact with organizations, people and places that have become so important to your student. This weekend helps to provide your student with the opportunity to bridge the gap between their lives both on and away from campus.

You will find that there are a variety of activities and events that provide a glimpse into the campus life and student experience found at NSU. There are also several event options in which you and your family can engage. Family Weekend is always a wonderful time for everyone on our campus to connect and enjoy an event packed, memory making weekend with NSU.

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Welcome to Athens: Greek Life Showcase | Don Taft University Center

Come & learn about our Social Greek-letter organizations on campus. These eleven (11) organizations will display a variety of history, values, and show you what it is like in the City of Athens.

9:00 pm: Mt. Olympus | Flight Deck Backyard

Sponsored by Student Events and Activities Board (SEA Board) and Fraternity and Sorority Life Office
At Mount Olympus it isn’t about who is crowned, but it is about those who have the heart to dominate! We invite all NSU Sharks, families, and friends to Mount Olympus. There will be a specialty drink, food menu, games, photobooth, DJ, and giveaways! You don’t want to miss out on this special event during Family Weekend 2022.

Interact with various Student Leaders on campus, faculty, and staff as they share their NSU experience and answer questions you may have.

12:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Inter-Organizational Council Block Party | Don Taft University Center (Shark Fountain)

Come and meet the IOC ambassadors who support our clubs and organizations in a block party atmosphere. There will be music, food, and tours of the DEIB office.

2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Huizenga Shark Business Expo | Mako Residence Hall (Shark Cage)

Please join the Huizenga Business Innovation Academy (HBIA) for the showcase of their student-run businesses, owned and operated by members of the HBIA Class of 2024!

Students and families are welcome to come out and celebrate the accomplishments of these full-time business students who are pursuing their entrepreneurial passion. The event will have delicious food, unique shopping, and creative services!

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Razor’s Edge Talent Showcase | Mako Residence Hall

Come and interact with Razor’s Edge Shark Talent as they exhibit the various disciplines offered within their program.

Sunday, October 2, 2022 

9:30 am – 11:00 am: “SEA” U Later Brunch | Alan B. Levan – NSU Broward Center of Innovation

Start your morning off the right way and culminate your Family Weekend experience over brunch, and hear from our advancement and NSU Broward Center of Innovation teams.

3:07pm, 4:42pm, 5:57pm, 8:12pm: Fort Lauderdale Beach Trip

Hop on the Shark Shuttle and enjoy the sun at Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

10:00 am – 2:00 pm: A Day for Children | Alvin Sherman Library Quad

The event showcases free and low-cost health and wellness services for children from birth to 16 years of age. Health care education and activities for vision, medical, speech, behavior, and dental health as well as physical and occupational therapy will be provided through NSU Health Centers.

Students and faculty from several of NSU’s colleges and centers will provide activities for the children attending this event. Free games, activities, and food will be provided. Local law enforcement and first responders will also be participating in activities throughout the day. NSU Library staff will be on-hand to provide Alvin Sherman Library cards for children and their families. Librarians will also share information about the library’s extensive resources on health and wellness.
