Tom West, M.B.A., has been appointed vice president of information technology and chief information officer at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). The announcement was made today by NSU chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D.
In his role, he will provide the University community with the technological resources to support teaching, learning and research. As CIO, West is specifically charged with leveraging technology to support strong student-centered administrative systems; advancing the University’s research and mission; empowering faculty teaching, knowledge production and technology transfer; and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the university’s operations.
“We are delighted to have Mr. West join NSU after a distinguished career in corporate America and academia,” Ferrero said. “We look forward to his leadership in keeping our university at the forefront of instructional technology and business support systems.”
West joins NSU from Health Choice Network in Miami where he was chief technology officer for this leading provider or enterprise information technology services to hospitals and clinics. In other corporate roles, West served as senior vice presiding of Global Information Technology and Engineering for Pfizer Pharmaceutical and vice president of global information technology for Citigroup, Latin America. His experience in higher education includes his assignment as the chief information officer for Kaplan Higher Education.

West received a Master’s in Business Administration from Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from University of North Carolina, Charlotte, N.C. He begins at NSU on March 7.
