Phi Delta Chi Dances for Downs Syndome

20170211_181321On Saturday February 11th 2017, the Beta Lambda chapter of the Phi Delta Chi (PDC) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity at NSU’s College of Pharmacy participated in the 3,2,1 Dance for Down’s syndrome event for the seventh consecutive year. Thanks to pharmacist Gordon Garland of Memorial Regional Hospital, his team, and PDC’s involvement, the event was great success.

Thirty Brothers of PDC proudly contributed in greeting guests, donating and gifting flowers, assisting in serving food and beverages, helping manage raffle ticket sales, and even dressing up as the event mascot, Joey D of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Funds raised benefited the Broward Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization who’s goal is “to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome by helping them reach their full potential by providing family support, education and social activities.” [http://www.bgcdownsyndrome.org/]

PDC Philanthropy Chair Joannes Burgos said “the event is a great way to advocate and fundraise for individuals with Down Syndrome and also provides an opportunity to get to share moments with these amazing individuals while concretely promoting the slogan We’re More Alike than Different which is part of the National Down Syndrome Congress public awareness campaign.” If you would like to be a part of this event in the future or support the Brothers of PDC in future community outreach programs, kindly contact the Chapter Advisor Dr. Jose Valdes at JoseVald@nova.edu.
