The Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, will host the Young-Artists Competition Winners’ Concert, on Saturday, Jan. 22, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Miniaci Performing Arts Center.
The concert will feature the six winners of the 2010 Young-Artists Concerto Competition, which was held at NSU in November. Musicians from across the country auditioned for a chance to perform side by side with the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, an incredible opportunity for the young artists. The winners were chosen by a panel of distinguished judges.
Division I winners—secondary-level musicians enrolled in grades 9 to 12—include pianists James Bao and Emily Nourishirazi, and violinist Sage McBride. Division II winners—college, university, and conservatory-level musicians up to the age of 25—include pianists Priscila Navarro, Paul Wright, and Chien I. Yang. These artists will each perform their winning compositions at the upcoming concert.
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences is proud to continue its partnership with Ars Flores, further connecting campus and community creative resources.
Tickets to the Young-Artists Competition Winners’ Concert, part of the college’s Resident Series, are available for $30, $20, and $10 for students and seniors. There will also be a free pre-concert lecture, beginning at 6:30 p.m., and a meet-and-greet reception after the concert with the soloists.
